Aotea Centre
The Project
The Aotea Centre was originally built in 1989. It was in need of an internal and external refurbishment including exterior recladding, roof waterproofing and internal refurbishment. Regional Facilities Auckland partnered with NZ Strong to manage the project, which commenced in February 2018 and is scheduled for completion mid 2021.
“Affordable have been heavily involved with the Aotea Project from the very beginning. They have always provided solutions for the complex access requirements this project has thrown at us.”
Sam Brooking, Site Manager for Aotea Project, NZ Strong
Our Work
NZ Strong contracted Affordable Group based on the success of previous projects they had collaborated on. Affordable Group shrink wrapped the entire complex exterior to keep the building waterproof. The building is 48,000m2 in size and scaffolding was required to access all external areas. In addition, cantilever scaffolding was necessary for the skylight monorail.
Scrim has also been required for external weather protection and to prevent any falling debris. Affordable Group also provided mobile towers for isolated access and shoreloading tower platforms.
“From support structures holding up temporary gantries, which needed engineering input and a PS1, to basic mobile scaffolds and temporary fencing, Affordable has been dependable and prompt. I don’t hesitate to call Affordable for anything, and will be requesting them on the next project”, Sam Brooking, Site Manager for Aotea Project, NZ Strong.
