Affordable Group (2010) Ltd is a private New Zealand owned company established in 2006 and purchased by the present owners in 2010 starting out with a staff of three. The company has experienced exponential growth over the last few years, and today operates with over 2000 tonne of scaffolding equipment, a fleet of 40 trucks and 95 scaffolders, and prides itself on opening approximately 110 new jobs each month.
Our growth is testament to our intrinsic service approach that there is “no job too big or small”. Take a look at some of our projects.
“Every project matters hugely to us. We invest a lot in the planning and tender stage of projects. Consultation and communication have to be spot on. Our tender process allows for extensive collaboration with the client and submission of a detailed fee proposal with all listed inclusions. It sets us up to complete great projects.”

Ian Lockyer
Ian Lockyer, a visionary leader and entrepreneur, passed away peacefully in April 2023, at the age of 73. His remarkable journey from humble beginnings to becoming an industry leader is a testament to his hard work, unwavering determination and innovative spirit. Born in Tauranga, Ian demonstrated an entrepreneurial flair throughout his life. Ian bought Affordable Scaffolding in 2010 and through sheer hard work and dedication, he grew the company from a small startup of three people to one of NZ’s largest and most trusted scaffolding companies. Ian was known not only for his business acumen but also for his generosity and sense of fairness. Communication and relationships, values instilled by Ian, will continue to be the foundation of our work at Affordable Group.
David Overend, Director at Affordable Group, colleague and trusted friend of Ian’s said, “Ian’s persona was ‘old school’ with a widely accepted manner of being a ‘really good bugger’. Once you were able to show him the facts and figures he put his faith in you to perform the task or job and backed you all the way. As a mentor you couldn’t ask for better - a task master and team man, with an amazing recall for figures. Ian is Mr Affordable and is with us every day in where the business is going.”
Ian Lockyer is survived by his children Sara and Phil, who are both Directors of Affordable Group. Communication and relationships, values instilled by Ian, will continue to be the foundation of our work as we honour his memory at Affordable Group. He is deeply missed by his family, friends and colleagues.
